When will I receive my avocados?
We pick to order at the beginning of the week (weather permitting and excluding public holidays), and our courier days are Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday (as a back up day). For more information about delivery click here
Do you deliver to rural addresses?
Yes we send our avocados to rural addresses. Everyone needs to be able to taste a quality avocado regardless of how far away they live! It does cost a little more though. The rural charge is $4.95 +GST. It will be worth it when you taste them! Check here to see if your address is considered rural http://www.addresscheck.co.nz/. After entering your address, make sure you scroll down to NZ Couriers (North Island) or Post Haste (South Island). It also takes 1-2 days longer to get to you depending on where you live so ordering on a Monday is the best idea to make sure you get your avocados before the weekend.
Can I organise a recurring order for each week?
Yes you can! In the shop you will see a recurring order product. Here is the link. Here you can choose any size box and you can change the frequency or cancel the repeating order via your log-in. All recurring orders get sent out on a Monday-Wednesday. The renewal date stated is shown in your cart and at checkout. Any price fluctuations are done automatically.
Are the avocados ready to eat?
No, we deliver unripe fruit. We want you to have control over the ripening process so you can eat them how you like them. If they are ripe when sent, they are more likely to get damaged on their way to you. There are ripening tips sent within the box and more information for you here on this website.
How long will my avocados take to ripen?
How quickly an avocado will ripen will depend on the time of year it was picked and the environment you live in. As a general rule, the fruit at the beginning of the season can take up to 14 days to ripen from the date picked. This time decreases as the weather warms up, and during the peak summer months the fruit generally takes about seven days to ripen. Leaving them in the box with a banana or apple will help to speed up the process.
Are the avocados all the same size?
Yes they are. We send you our largest premium avocados. They weigh between 280 – 350gm.
Do the avocados have any marks on the skin?
You may notice some marks on the skin of our avocados. These are due to wind rub but it does not effect the flesh at all. It’s what’s on the inside that counts!
What if I am unhappy with the avocados when they arrive?
We only send fruit in good condition but, in saying that, it’s difficult for us to know if every single avocado is perfect on the inside. Please take a photo and contact us on fiona@thefreshavocado.co.nz or call us 021 0422511. We can work out a solution together.
